Homeostasis - the body maintaining equilibrium. This is important for many of the body's systems that require specific nutrient levels, water levels, or temperature. In our experiment we tested the homeostasis work of the kidneys which get rid of excess water in the body.
For this lab were were instructed to design our own procedure that proved a type of homeostasis in the body. My group got water levels. Then we had to run our experiment. For my group we each drank a certain amount of water. Then we recorded how long it took for us to want to pee. The data showed a proportional relationship between the amount of water drunk and the time it took to pee. The more water you drink, the greater volume of excess water your body has. To maintain the water level homeostasis the body has to get rid of the extra water. After getting the data, we had to write up a formal lab report and create a scientific poster.
I am proud of the end result of this project. Both the report and poster look professional and I am happy with the teamwork in my group. There were times during this project where I felt uncomfortable and my team was accommodating. Another peak is that the work was well distributed among team members. I felt everyone understood the information. The pits in this project were getting unfocused. Since everyone in my team got along well we often got distracted by conversation. However, this did not interfere with us completing the project by the deadline. My last pit was not preparing enough for the presentation. We did a poster session. Although it was supposed to be informal I wish I would have decided beforehand which information I wanted to mention and in which general order.
